What may not be listed or sold on Ateeq.
Ateeq is a pre-loved fashion marketplace in the UAE. Some things may not be listed here — because UAE law forbids their sale, because they can’t be handed over safely between strangers, or because their authenticity can’t be established. Please read this before you publish.
A quick check now saves your listing from being removed later.
Counterfeits, replicas and “first copies”
Anything imitating a brand it isn’t — bags, watches, shoes, perfume, sunglasses — along with fake authenticity cards, dust bags, boxes and receipts. Selling counterfeit goods is a criminal offence in the UAE. If you aren’t sure an item is genuine, say so plainly in the description rather than guessing.
Alcohol, tobacco, vapes and shisha
No alcoholic drinks, cigarettes, cigars, e-cigarettes, vape devices or liquids, shisha, or any tobacco or nicotine product, and none of the accessories sold for using them.
Weapons and military gear
Firearms and their parts, ammunition, air and replica guns, knives and blades carried as weapons, knuckledusters, pepper spray, tasers, explosives, and military or police uniforms, insignia and body armour.
Medicines, supplements and controlled substances
Prescription and over-the-counter medicines, injectables, food supplements and slimming products, contact lenses, and any narcotic or controlled substance or the equipment for taking it. Unregistered cosmetics that make medical claims belong here too.
Live animals
No pets or livestock of any kind, and no live insects or reptiles. Ateeq is for clothing and accessories, and no listing here can guarantee an animal’s welfare.
Ivory, endangered species and protected furs
Ivory, rhino horn, tortoiseshell, coral, and skins, furs or feathers from species protected under CITES and UAE wildlife law. Being vintage is not an exemption. Ordinary leather, wool and shearling from farmed animals are fine.
Worn underwear and used personal-care items
Used underwear, socks, swimwear and hosiery, and opened or used cosmetics, skincare, razors, toothbrushes and hairbrushes. Unworn items still sealed in their original packaging are allowed.
Documents, cards and SIMs
Emirates ID, passports, visas, driving licences, certificates and other official documents, plus bank cards, registered SIM cards, and anything meant to pass one person off as another.
Stolen goods, or anything that isn’t yours to sell
List only what you own and are free to sell. That rules out stolen or lost property, unpaid or financed goods, hotel and employer property, and items you are reselling for someone else without their permission.
Anything contrary to UAE law or public morals
Items or images that are sexually explicit, that insult any religion, that carry extremist, hateful or gambling content, or that are otherwise prohibited under UAE law. Listing photos must show the item, not a person in a state of undress.
Listings that break these rules are removed without notice, and accounts that repeat the offence are suspended. Serious cases, such as counterfeits or weapons, are referred to the relevant UAE authorities.
Use the Report link on any listing or seller profile and choose “Prohibited item”. Every report is reviewed by a person. You can also block a seller from their profile — and you never have to complete a deal you aren’t comfortable with.
